The Spa at Sanibel Harbour
Our PhilosophyThe essence of the sea is at the heart of our spa. Taking our cue from the Caloosa Indians, we utilize natural products and sea-based elements for healing. Named one of the “Top 10 Spa Resorts in the U.S.” by Condé Nast Traveler, The Spa features an experienced staff whose goal is your complete satisfaction. We invite you to discover the pampering touches and luxurious enchantment of The Spa at Sanibel Harbour.
Our InspirationBefore the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon ever set his eyes on Punta Rassa — the same eighty-five acres now known as Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa — Native Americans known as the Caloosa inhabited southwestern Florida. So powerful was the tribe, they dominated over forty different villages along the coast. What helped them flourish? The sea.
The Caloosa skillfully adapted to life among the waterways, using their abundant resources for food and tools. They also constructed a series of intricately-detailed “shell middens,” mounds up to 30 feet high and 150 acres in size built out of conch shells, whelk shells, oyster shells and clam shells.
Although the Caloosa population all but disappeared by the late 1700s, their legacy of living off the sea continues to inspire. At The Spa at Sanibel Harbour, we pay tribute to the spirit of the Caloosa and follow them in bringing the wonders of the sea to the heart of our spa.
